Juan de Brigard

Juan works across the Inclusion and Safety portfolio and the LAC region, leading investments with civil society organizations and other public-interest actors.
With a background in philosophy and a Master’s in Bioethics, he has worked as a consultant, researcher, and advocate in the digital rights space, focusing on governance, regulation, and the ethical implications of digital public infrastructure, digital identity, and artificial intelligence. He’s particularly interested in surveillance, migration, and the use of biometric data.
Prior to joining Co-Develop, Juan led the autonomy and dignity research and advocacy line at Fundación Karisma, a Colombia-based digital rights organization. He has also worked as a consultant for Consumers International and the National Democratic Institute, and at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. He is a founding member of the Human Rights for Digital Identity Coalition (HR4ID).
Outside of work you can find him hiking in the mountains, rock climbing, cooking, reading, and occasionally playing the drums.
